DEFEND Petition: Social Media Literacy in Schools

We the parents of the world DEMAND, 

1. Required instruction in all elementary schools; requiring members of the instructional staff of elementary schools to provide instruction on social media literacy and social media dangers; defining the term “social media”; requiring school boards to make social media literacy instructional material available online;    
2. Members of the instructional staff of elementary schools shall teach efficiently and faithfully, using the books and materials required that meet the highest standards for professionalism and historical accuracy, following the prescribed courses of study, and employing approved methods of instruction, 
3. And definition to be given to the term “social media” as follows: “social media” means a form of interactive electronic communication through an Internet website or application by which a user creates a service-specific identifying user profile to connect with other users of the Internet website or application for the purpose of communicating and sharing information, ideas, news, stories, opinions, images, and other content.
