Organization: DEFEND (Nonprofit) and 65square 
Position: Software Developers and Engineers for 65square working in Flutter, Unity, Django, MySQL or React (Volunteer)  
Location: Remote (Weekly Zoom Meetings)  

About Us: 
DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to reducing risks for children and vulnerable people online. We are currently building 65square, the world’s healthiest social media and dating platform, designed with game-like features and characteristics of an MMO. Our goal is to create a safer, more positive online space for users.

Role Description: 

We are looking for volunteers to help develop and supervise the creation of 65square. This system will be built using various technologies, including Dart (Flutter), iOS (Swift), Unity (C#), and Python. If you’re passionate about online safety, social media innovation, or game-like experiences, we encourage you to apply!

Key Responsibilities:

• Developers:
  • Write, test, and maintain code in one or more of the following: Dart (Flutter), iOS (Swift), Unity (C#), and Python
  • Collaborate with other developers and designers to implement system features
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement and optimization of the 65square platform
• Supervisors:
  • Oversee development teams, ensuring project timelines and goals are met
  • Provide guidance and technical leadership in one or more areas of development
  • Ensure all work aligns with DEFEND’s mission to create a safer, healthier online experience

Qualifications:

• Developers:
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Dart (Flutter), Swift (iOS), C# (Unity), Python
  • Experience with mobile or game development is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Supervisors:
  • Proven experience leading development teams or managing technical projects
  • Strong understanding of the development process in one or more of the listed technologies
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
